It's a parallel dimension, much like our own world, but peopled with intelligent creatures from different time periods; dinosaurs, humans and other mammals. It isn't a fantasy environment; there is no effective magic. Somee technology is available from our world and makes life easier.
WHEN DID YOU FIRST COME UP WITH THE IDEA?
In my late teens, it started as a fairly stereotyped medieval world, but has slowly eveolved into a much more coherent and complicated place. It has its own history, ecology and socialogy. The interactions and tensions between the various species create the stories. How can such diverse beings co-exist without one group or another trying to take over.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT WORKING IN A SHARED UNIVERSE?
It's great, Lewis has sidled in and set up unexpected encampments in parts of the world I hadn't envisaged. He respects my rules and we bounce ideas back and forth very happily.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO IN THE FUTURE?
Continue working on my Red World graphic novel and now, bring more of it to life using miniatures. Lewis wants to make a short puppet movie, but it won't be part of the main story.
WHAT ARE OTHERS SAYING ABOUT RED WORLD STORIES? "Peregrine Besset gets more and more exciting... I have no idea where it's going... and that's half the fun." -NICK STATHOPOULOS:ARTIST
"...The reader forgets that being a female Egyptian dwarf is anything other than normal. It is a lovely thing that Marilyn and Lewis have done." -MIRIAM ENGLISH:DIVERSE UNIVERSE
